Richtung ändern | 2020 egg-tempera on linen 53 x 41 cm available on request
My painting Richtung ändern was inspired by Caspar David Friedrich's painting Der Wanderer über dem Nebelmeer. Where Friedrich's work is a tribute to a fallen soldier, a hiker dressed in old-German clothing with a walking stick, I placed a young girl, in an old-fashioned dress, with a skipping rope. The girl stands with her back to the viewer, suggesting that we could undergo the same feeling of the incomprehensibility of what is great when contemplating the landscape. The painting retains its relativising and nostalgic atmosphere, but strengthens the focus on the future and hope.
